Diego Ratto is an Italian composer based in Los Angeles, known for seamlessly blending sound design elements into film scores that merge electronic and traditional instrumentation, creating hybrid and innovative sonorities that enrich the cinematic experience with captivating auditory landscapes.

His work in film scoring has earned him several prestigious awards, including 1st Prize for Best Score from Edison Studio at the RomaEuropa Festival, in collaboration with Cineteca Bologna and SIAE. He also received 1st Prize at the Rimusicazioni Film Festival in Bolzano and the Best Music Award at the Reel Loud Film Festival in Santa Barbara. Diego studied Film Scoring at UCLA under Peter Golub and holds a PhD in Music Composition from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He also earned a Master of Music in Electroacoustic Composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH), Sweden.

During his time in Stockholm, he interned with acclaimed film and video game composer Johan Söderqvist (known for EA Battlefield, Madame Web, and In A Better World—Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards). Additionally, he participated in masterclasses with renowned film composers such as Ludwig Göransson, Hans Zimmer, and James Newton Howard.

Diego also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Jazz Guitar and Electronic Music Composition from the A. Vivaldi Music Conservatory in Alessandria, Italy. He studied composition under esteemed mentors, including João Pedro Oliveira, Curtis Roads, Matteo Franceschini, and Sarah Gibson.

He was honored with a Fulbright Scholarship to further his studies in Music Composition in the United States.
